Reading the French newspaper yesterday, i found the face of Denis. I filmed the whole thing in time lapse with Gawker (you can see it here or on YouTube) -- and had a visit from Marvin! One hour condensed into one minute. Pen and colored pencil in Moleskine.
Doodling my stack of papers instead of grading them. My mom made me this pink plaid pencil case when i was in college. It survived many a fountain pen leak. Coffee table donated by my good friend Micheline. Pen in crappy doodle book.
I tried to watch Tout Va Bien by Jean-Luc Godard. The movie had a promising start -- Yves Montand and Jane Fonda, with a surprisingly impeccable French accent, in the early 70s. Then, it grew so opaque (and i won't dwell on the abrupt ending) that i got up and started drawing a Simca 1100, a car my father once owned. Pigma® Micron pen and watercolor.
I loved Ryan's self-portrait when i saw it. His lines are deceptively simple -- yet he captured his own resemblance far better than i did with my compulsive crosshatching. Pen & colored pencil in Moleskine!
