Maddie again

This is the third time i have drawn Maddie (the first time was in June 07 and the second time in July of the same year), who pops up on Flickr every now and then. She is so photogenic, i have learned so much about drawing dogs and fur just by sketching her gorgeous face and ears. HB and B pencils on sketch Canson paper.
Here's an obnoxiously large view of it just for kicks: OK, supersize Maddie.

I LOVE your Maddie portraits, and supersize is supercool! :) The variations in texture and tone are wonderful.

What a work of art! Such softness created with such delicate strokes.
I have never been a dog person, but when I took on my first dog portrait commission (in pastels), I totally fell in love with the ears of the labrador retriever as I was painting them. :)

Incredible. I didn't think these could get any better, but you actually improve all the time. The texture you achieve with cross-hatching is truly wonderful.. Thanks for the closeup - I enjoyed seeing a bit of your technique.

This is SO so amazing, France. It's hard to believe that you are not looking into a real eye. That it is a drawing. I don't know how you do that. I have no idea.

Ahhh Maddie. Such a beauty and doesn't she know it! I love how you captured all the delicate topography of her face and her expressive features. So sensitively drawn.

I am always, truly, at a loss for words when I come to your site.
Spent at least five minutes of silent gawping on the large version of this doggy.
