I don't know how many Volvo 240s I've drawn. I think this one is an early 80s DL. It was originally blue, but I tend to want to see my favorite ladies in... orange. I was having mango sorbet as I was adding watercolor -- which might have influenced my choice of color a bit.
I took a couple of pictures this morning of my friend's little Matthew, who was born 6 weeks ago. I did a quick sketch at school based on my iPhone photo but like many others before that, didn't finish it. Which is probably for the better, since it was starting to look like him less and less!
Until today, I had never drawn a Porsche. My first draft was a disaster, and this one still looks a bit too much like a toad. But that's drawing with a pen for you. It's a bit of a gamble.
This eventually will go to Mike, the Porsche's owner -- at his request.
I was sitting in the doctor's waiting room this afternoon, trying to drown out the TV blasting "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" (or is it called "Millionaire"?) with a bit of sketching. It was a "Water lilies by Monet" on the wall with matching pastel-colored furniture kind of waiting room.
The doctor later facetiously told me "You know, sadly, your baby will have a New Jersey accent, right?". Ha!
Pigma Micron in sketchbook and a splash of Photoshop for the background.
I'm off to New England to celebrate my birthday, among other things. My little bag is packed, and I will see you in three days (that's if I sketch anything while I am there!!).
In the meantime, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Joan, Veronica and Peter, who were also born on April 14 :-)
