Bloom

I had been itching to draw a student at my school for months.  So my friend Todd and I asked him permission to have his picture taken and draw it.  Todd and I imposed a deadline on one another -- to get it done between March 18 and April 14 (our respective birthdays!).  I cannot wait to see Todd's results.  Here's my take on it.  If I planned my drawings better, the gutter of the sketchbook wouldn't end up slicing Bloom's eye vertically, but planning a drawing is what can potentially turn me off.  2B "fat" Cretacolor graphite in Moleskine. 

Linus on package

I just wrapped a package in craft paper.  It is going to my nephew as soon as I can make it to a post office.  The back looked pretty plain, so I drew a dog: Linus, my friend Emily's dog -- of whom I had taken a picture a while back.  Fine point Sharpie on craft paper -- and hopefully it didn't bleed through too much.

Mr. "Jee-May-Nez" with Brushes

Another faculty meeting spent doodling -- on my iPhone this time.  I had not used the Brushes app in months. Obviously, I treat it too much like a piece of paper -- when it seems to have so much more to offer.  Can't wait for the next faculty meeting so I can play with it some more.

Uggs are still going strong -- and that doesn't make them more aesthetically pleasing to me.  A dozen girls were wearing them today during HSPA testings: beige ones, black ones, brown ones, grey ones, real ones, fake ones.  Pigma Micron 08 in sketchbook.

Jill

As I've posted earlier, I've been on a blind contour kick these past few days.  I had a classroom full of students taking tests today -- everyone was still, and I had countless opportunities to doodle them.  I focussed on Jill and her yellow flower for a few minutes, first as a blind contour and then as part of the page of inevitable randomness.  Pilot v5 & Pigma Micron 05 pens, respectively.
