I came close to buying my own 1983 Jeep Grand Wagoneer over a decade ago -- then, as with the 1985 Saab 900 (years later), I chickened out. It figures. Pigma Micron 08 and watercolor in watercolor Moleskine.
I have a small drawing by Robert Crumb that I keep on a wall. It's a drawing of the corner of a hotel room. There is the corner of a pillow, a piece of the headboard, and a phone -- and it's so darn perfect. There is an incredible balance between detail and omission. I have aspired for years to draw something similar -- to take the mundane and celebrate it with the pen. And this was my nth attempt at attaining that.
Another page in Nora's little babylogue -- the Moleskine I have kept for the past 20 months. Pigma Micron 01.
Here's a quick study of my friend/colleague Sue, after a series of photographs by Kristen, who has been camera happy since she got a Canon Rebel. This doesn't begin to do Sue's curls justice -- but hopefully naming this a study helps me get away with all the details I've avoided. HB pencil in 9 x 12 Strathmore sketchbook.
