Cartier-Bresson was in Iran

I have been searching for subjects to draw with a pencil, to get back in the pencil groove a bit.  My husband's classroom is always an excellent source of photographs -- so I borrowed a book by Cartier-Bresson.  I came upon a photograph of army men in Iran back in 1950 and one caught by eye.  So that's what I've been drawing for the past couple of evenings. Except I got tired and didn't quite finish.  #2 pencil on Xerox paper.

 

A few legs missing

Riley

It's the HSPAs at my school and that's always a good time to doodle -- especially when students have finished working and they're drifting into slumber at their table.  They move less, which gives me a few more seconds to try to capture their pose, their below-the-butt jeans, their hoods...  the full high school regalia.  Case in point: Riley, Sophomore student -- doodled in record time.  Pigma Micron 08 in sketchbook with a dash of Photoshop for color.

 

Mise en abyme

As we were having a little drawing session with my daughter (i.e. she grabs a Crayola marker and tells me to grab one too, and we proceed to doodle on the same piece of paper), I decided to secede and draw on my own sketchpad.  Crayola markers on "White Drawing Pad".  From left to right: Ikea chairs, Nora's little kitchen, "her" door, and "Papa's" door.  

 

The Secret Garden

I am pretty proud to be, once again, part of the crew of people working on our school spring musical.  Oh, the talent of these kids!  Here's the official poster, which I finished earlier this week.  3B pencil and Photoshop for the dash of green :-)
