Yesterday I spent my afternoon sketching in the streets of NYC with Liz Steel. We had never met in person, but the internet being a place of wonders, we had set up our little get together weeks prior and once we met, we connected instantly.
Watching her sketch was a learning experience: I was in awe of the speed at which Liz executes her sketches, and how quickly her decisions regarding composition and color are made. She blew me away. And all this while chatting away, as if we had a lot of catching up to do! On our first location in Chelsea, while I was laboring over one drawing, Liz was finishing her second one. We also made the decision, later that afternoon, to sit on the sidewalk at the corner of 23rd St and 8th Ave, as passers-by were commenting on our work. It was such a great afternoon. I hope I will get a chance to sketch with Liz again... maybe in Sidney, Australia, one day?!

Sounds like a fabulous day! I'm with you in wondering at Liz' speed and skill in decision-making as she sketches! I sketched with her in Kansas City a couple of years ago and, like you, I was laboring over one drawing as she covered so much more.
