Drawing with my daughter might be my absolute favorite thing to do. I sit down next to her as she is starting a drawing. As she begins to tell the story of what she is drawing, I notice it might last for a few minutes. So I grab a piece of blank paper too and draw what's on the table. We've done this a couple of times already and her capacity to make a narrative up as she goes has cracked me up. Meanwhile, as I listen and ask questions, I am doing a little drawing of my own, and if I am lucky, she will come over to my chair and add a little personal touch to it. In this case, a star to the left. Tonight, we sat at her table for a solid 45 minutes, and I used her colored pencils to draw her little toy trumpet.
