Lynne (visit her at Pawprints) kindly asked me to disclose some screw-ups from my sketchbooks, and though it is not easy to reveal the ones i don't like, i must say, it is an exercise in humility!! These didn't make the blog because they were either flawed, boring, or repetitive. From top to bottom: a chair in the doctor's waiting room, a faculty meeting, and Megan's hand.
Woohoo! First comment!
These are you screw-ups?? I'd love to be able to achieve one of your 'failed' drawings. Does that make any sense? It does in my head. You know what I'm saying - I'd love to be able to draw like you.

Boy...do I have some screw-ups to share with you?!? I know it probably means very little that I say these are fantastic...as I say all your work is...but really, they are. Really.

WOW -- I am very impressed by your bravery! Of course, when "screw-ups" (and I use that term only because you did -- I see nothing but gloriousness in these drawings!) look like this -- well, let's just say that I'd be proud to have a teaspoon full of your talent! Thank you for doing this! And take my word for it -- your drawings are fabulous!

France, I really like how well you have captured the light reflecting from the paper on the hand sketch. You have a gift and you know how to use it!

Gosh, I LOVE this post. I love every single line. The chair is perfection and every single portrait is just right. GREAT stuff, France.

These are wonderful -- screw ups?! I especially like the sketch of the back of Jen L's head. Your line work is wonderfully energetic always, even on things you apparently don't like.
