Todd is looking up

I owe this one to Michael Nobbs.  His approach to drawing has been my inspiration.  His "20-minute challenge" is making it possible for me to continue drawing.  I can no longer have one, let alone two, hours ahead of me to draw -- but manage 20 minutes here, 20 minutes there.  I was used to finishing a drawing in one sitting, but that was in my past (i.e. pre-baby!) life.  

I hope Todd still talks to me after he sees this.  The erroneous proportions make him look a tad cartoony -- once I noticed that, I left his forehead and hair unfinished.  2B & HB pencil on some sketch paper. 

Goodbye comfort zone

I am slow.  I am slow when I eat, when I read, and particularly slow when I draw.  So when I try to sketch our baby with a pen, it throws me out of my comfort zone.  Suddenly I have to catch glimpses, run that pen on the paper as fast as I can without producing a total monster.  They should have baby drawing classes in art school.  Pigma Micron in "babylogue" Moleskine.
