EDM challenge #40

When I checked my e-mails this morning, I saw Danny Gregory had taken on EDM challenge #40: draw something with folds.  I had drawn this challenge years ago, but as it is often the case with Danny Gregory, his take on it was a clever one, and I itched to emulate him (yet again) right away.  

So I found a photo of Keith Richards on the web, turned it upside down, did not cheat by turning the picture or my drawing right side up during the process, and spent about twenty minutes (about as much as my daughter grants me these days) on it.  When I put the Sharpie down, well, this is what I saw.

Borrowing Nora's Crayolas

I had just got a gazillion little Crayola markers for my daughter, and I felt envious when I saw her try them all out one by one on a piece of paper.  The urge to doodle with a little Crayola marker came upon me, so once I put her down for the night, I tried the black one.  And the red one too, hehe.  

EDM challenge #218: a knife

I can't remember the last time I drew an Every Day Matters challenge.  I visited Karen Blados's excellent blog and saw the latest: a knife.  It made me want to give it a shot.  

This is one of the knives that is used the most at our house.  It rarely makes it to its storage location.  It is more likely to be found in the sink or on the dish rack.

Pigma Micron 05 and some white colored pencil for the blade.  

EDM challenge #130: some school supplies

Some days, i just doodle on -- and today i felt like adding color to one of my pages (which made the paper buckle, but oh well). Color is still a foreign language to me, and as i've been told, it can be counterintuitive. So, i'm learning. Pen + watercolor in my "crappy" sketchbook.

EDM challenge #124: something yellow

This might be a stretch for the EDM challenge, but i thought this Peugeot 403 would look good in yellow. This might be the beginning of another series of postcards with colorful ladies. Pen and watercolor.

EDM challenge #40: Something with folds

This is as far as the pile will go. I have to put the clothes away at some point. 2B graphite on sketch paper.

EDM challenge #104: salt & pepper shakers

My salt and pepper shakers were manufactured by Peugeot! They were a gift from my Mom when i left France. I packed them i my suitcase and they came to the US with me. Wonder what kind of weapon they would be considered today on transatlantic flights. H & HB pencil on sketch paper.

EDM challenge #102: an electric plug

I had not done an Every Day Matters challenge in a while (the egg carton appears to be my latest!) and i had fun with this one. The plug is from my hair dryer, which is collecting dust given the fact my hair is about an inch long and no longer necessitates any form of maintenance. :-) Pilot pen in Moleskine.

EDM challenge #49: Refrigerator interior

I am not a huge fan of the Moleskine paper, but the unusual format allows for stretched perspectives... and tall fridges. Problem is, the scanner is not that long!

EDM challenge #93: an egg carton

I've been neglecting our Everyday Matters challenges. I witness all the beautiful artwork being produced out there and all i do is draw cars. Today i took a break from the British & Swedish wagons and concentrated on eggs. I never buy them so i dug up a picture from Flickr. HB pencil on Canson paper.
